Reverend Allan Burns


Father Burns was born in Elmira, N.Y. and attended St. Mary's School. He began his studies for the priesthood at St. Andrew's Seminary and St. Bernard's Seminary at Rochester, N.Y. In 1938, Father Burns joined the Benedictines entering a novitiate at St. Paul's Abbey, Newton, N.J. After that he went to the Immaculate Conception Seminary, Ramsey, N.J. and to Seton Hall College, South Orange, N.J. to finish his philosophical and arts courses. He took his theology at St. Paul's Seminary, Ottawa, Canada. He was ordained June 3, 1943 in the church at St. Paul Abbey. Since ordination, Father Burns has taught Greek and science in the minor seminary attached to the Abbey. Last fall he was made Vice Rector of the Seminary.
