Jubilee Week Program


The week of May 2, 1948 will be given over, in St. Mary’s Parish to the celebration of its Diamond Jubilee.

On Sunday night, May 2, at 7:45 in the church His Excellency, the Most Reverend James E. Kearney, the bishop of Rochester, will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to the following class of candidates:

On Monday morning, May 3rd, Bishop Kearney will consecrate the new high altar with ceremonies which are most ancient and most impressive.

On Monday evening, May 3rd, at 6:30 p.m., there will be held at the Mark Twain Hotel a Jubilee Dinner for all the parishioners and their friends. Toastmaster will be James L. Burke and the speakers will be Mr. David Vincent Sheehan, Reverend Thos. J. Toole, pastor of St. Mary’s, the most Rev. James E. Kearney, DD., Bishop of Rochester.

On Tuesday morning at 8:00 there will be a solemn High Mass for all the members of the parish and Wednesday at 8:00 there will be a solemn High Mass for all the deceased of the parish.

Thursday, May 6th is Ascension Thursday, a Holy Day of Obligation and the masses will be at 5:30, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 and 12:15.

On Friday, at 8:00, there will be a solemn High Mass for all the benefactors of the parish, both living and dead.

On Saturday at 8:00 a.m., there will be a solemn High Mass for all those, living and dead, who have served in the armed forces of our country during the history of this parish. On Thursday and Friday nights, May 6th and 7th, at 8:00 p.m. the Music Department of St. Mary’s School will present the operetta “Kathleen”. The program for this operetta follows:
