Cubbing was started in England in 1914 and in the Unites States in 1930 to contribute a program for boys at the age level of 9, 10, and 11 years old.

Cubbing is home centered. It suggests things to do in and around the home and neighborhood. It helps parents. It brings parents and boys together around boy interests. its natural neighborhood play group is called "Den" and it is very desirable for cubs to have a little "place" where they can gather informally as well as for regular meetings, and where they can make things.
